Himawari-tei
A moment to unwind in the city.
At Higashi-Ikebukuro steakhouse Himawari-tei, sizzling hot-plate rib finger diced steak, house-made demi-glace hamburg steak, and jumbo fried prawn combos anchor a satisfying Japanese Western-style menu.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Marked by a welcoming sign on the 1th floor of a Higashi-Ikebukuro building, Himawari-tei is an approachable steakhouse where meat dishes arrive hissing on hot iron plates. Running from lunchtime through dinner, the kitchen provides dependable, hearty options whenever the craving for a substantial meal strikes.
One of the signatures is the rib finger diced steak, served on a piping-hot iron platter alongside vegetables and finished with a house sauce that pairs naturally with steamed rice. Portions can be tailored to your appetite, ranging from a 130 g small to a 200 g regular and a 300 g large. The classic Japanese-Western hamburg steak is another staple: the 180 g ground-meat patty comes coated in a rich house demi-glace sauce and topped with a fried egg, delivering a comforting, satisfyingly meaty bite.
For variety on a single plate, combo sets pair the diced steak with golden deep-fried sides. Options include a jumbo fried prawn measuring about 20 cm, butcher-style minced meat cutlets (menchi katsu), and cream croquettes filled with red snow crab, all of which are also available as individual toppings. The kitchen extends beyond steaks and patties as well, offering a house beef curry simmered with steak trimmings alongside ginger-fried pork raised on sweet potatoes and herbs.
The dining room features counter seating alongside booth tables, suiting everything from a quick solo lunch to an unhurried meal with colleagues or friends. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and operates on other days from 11:30 to 14:30 for lunch and 17:00 to 21:45 for dinner. Cashless payment via PayPay is accepted. With brisk service and steaming iron plates arriving at the table, it offers a thoroughly grounded, filling dining stop.
